The Library at Morgan Library and Museum, New York City

Midtown Manhattan is a looming concrete jungle, and while that harbours its own kind of beauty, The Library at the stunning Morgan Library and Museum in Murray Hill is a whimsical breath of fresh air. Thousands of books are encased on their shelves, which are stacked across three levels from the polished floor to the wonderfully intricate Renaissance-inspired ceiling, and it’s quite a sight. The space has a Cathedral-like aura, with lots of dark wood and plenty of ornate antiquity-figure paintings about the place, but here, the deity is books.
